About the rowhouse: The row house is approximately 1100 livable square feet with 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, an unfinished 300 square foot basement, and a backyard. It is available for rent April 1 or May 1. The house is three stories. On the third floor are two bedrooms. On the second floor is one bedroom, and two bathrooms (one has a tub, one has a shower). The first floor has a kitchen, living room, and powder room. The unfinished basement has a full bathroom (with a shower) and laundry facilities. All of the bedrooms have closets. This is a super interesting house. It was built in the early 1860s and was used by Irish railroad workers who worked across the street at the B&O railroad. Imagine the history - people were living there when Lincoln's funeral car set out from that station... When we bought it, its age was apparent. But we have given it a lot of TLC, restoring it to its former glory. We have had to do a complete rebuilding of the house, from the roof and bricks out. Everything in this house is completely brand new (insulation, flooring, drywall, appliances, electricity, plumbing - no leaks here!, etc...). We have included built-in shelving where possible, creating interesting and useful storage spaces. We've also used historic details, like windows to match the Irish workers museum across the street. The range is a premier (fancier) brand of a range. There are full-sized washer and dryer units in the basement. There are outlets and a hose pipe in the backyard too. There is gas heating and central AC. The windows have blinds and curtain rods as well. The backyard is fenced-in completely. We still need to finish some minor framing and other odds and ends, but none of the work is major and all of it will be done before April 1. About the neighborhood: This house is located on the south side of Lemmon Street, a few houses down from South Poppleton. This is the heart of the historic Hollins Market/B&O Railroad neighborhood. It is within walking distance of the University of Maryland Biopark, Medical Center, Law School, and other U of M buildings. It is also within walking distance of Hollins Market, Zella's pizza and other restaurants, and Camden Yards. It is close to the circulator and other buses (1, 10, 20, 35, orange). It is close to the PriceRite for groceries. We usually don't have a hard time finding parking on the street. About renting: This is listed by the owner. I will require first and last month rent and security deposit equivalent to one's month rent. I prefer no pets because of the new house and flooring and worry about nails scratching things up. I am willing, however, to consider pets under certain circumstances. For all pets, I will require an extra $500 per pet deposit. For dogs, the dog will need to be a small dog (less than 20-30 lbs), not aggressive, and not what my insurance company considers to be a "dangerous" breed. Even though I know that many of those dogs are not dangerous, it will affect my insurance, so I can't do it - I'm sorry...
